BOOKIES FAVOUR SUAREZ’ MOVE TO UNITED

Manchester United are seen as the favourites to sign Luis Suarez if the former Liverpool player were to return to England, according to the bookies.

The Barcelona star is comfortable in Spain after moving there for £75 million in 2014 from Liverpool. However, the bookies in a shocking revelation claim he would join the struggling United side ahead of other options if he were to consider a return to the English Premier League.

Suarez has lifted the UEFA Champions League title and two La Liga titles since his move to Spain. He has earned a total of eight honours since moving to the Nou Camp two years ago. Due to the frustrations in the front attack line at Old Trafford, Don Balon sensationally reported that the Red Devils management were considering splashing as much as £135 million to lure the 29-year old prolific striker back to England.

Bookies Ladbrokes also claimed that United had a 4/1 chance of signing the player. Of four games in October United struggled to get just one goal. This might force Jose Mourinho to look for a striker that can surely end their woes upfront. Suarez is one of the few players in the world that will definitely make a difference, hence the link. Surely, it might not be an offer the Uruguayan would be willing to consider at this stage of his career. Read more »

Chile international Alexis Sanchez is set to lose his position as striker in the Arsenal squad, with reports that the Gunners have finally landed a forward from Deportivo La Caruna.

Uruguay star, Luis Suarez said he plays for the best team in the world.

The striker who just won the highest goal scorer in the La Liga, breaking the jinx of the award which has been shared between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi for seven years, insists Barcelona are the “best team in the world.”

Barca were a point ahead of Real in the standings and went to Granada at 4pm on Saturday while Real Madrid were at Deportivo in the last round of games at the La Liga. With the head-to-head record separating sides rather than goal difference, Barca’s superior record over Real this season (5-2 on aggregate) means Zinedine Zidane’s side needed a win and hoped Barca played a draw or lose to take the title.

Ahead of the game, Suarez said:

“It’s key to keep a clean sheet, we know that we have what it takes in attack.

“We can win the two titles [Barca also play Sevilla in Copa del Rey final on May 22] or lose them. Read more »

LUIS ENRIQUE: I LOVE LUIS SUAREZ

Head Coach of the Barcelona senior team, Luis Enrique, has come out to support striker Luis Suarez in light of criticism of the Uruguayan striker. He hailed the attributes of the former Liverpool center forward.

Luiz Suarez scored twice in the quarter-final first leg of the UEFA Champions League match against Spanish rival, Athletico Madrid. During the match, the striker was just lucky to have escaped being sent off for kicking out at Athletico’s Juanfran and striking Filipe Luis in the face.

The striker was suspended for biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini at the 2014 World Cup. This made him miss the first few matches until October before he could play for the Catalan giant. He made negative headlines again with this action.

In the pre-match news conference of Luis Enrique as Barcelona were to tackle Real Sociedad in the Spanish La Liga, he was constantly asked about the suspension of Luis Suarez.

On the 29-year old, Luis Enrique said: “I love the type of player that Luis Suarez is, there’s no other striker in the world like him. Only defenders are allowed to hit players. If a striker suddenly does it then people are more bothered.”

He went on to defend the player.

“Luis is doing very well, he’s a vital player for us, not just in a footballing sense but because of the character he has. Luis Suarez is a very intelligent guy. When he arrived here he knew he’d be in the eye of the storm for anything he did.” Read more »

John Aldridge says that the club should consider signing a proven goalscorer

Former Liverpool star John Aldridge says that the club should consider signing a proven goalscorer in order to act as a replacement for Luis Suarez.

The inability to score goals was a major factor in the club finishing outside the top four once again last season. Even though Brendan Rodgers had brought Mario Balotelli as the replacement for Luis Suarez, the Italian international disappointed immensely after scoring only one league goal throughout the campaign. The situation became more desperate due to the injury crisis faced by striker Daniel Sturridge. Liverpool have been one of the active clubs in the summer transfer window by bringing players like Nathaniel Clyne.

However, Aldridgehas recognised a need for a top striker as the priority number one for the Reds. After scoring almost 3 goals per game during the campaign in which Luis Suarez was named as the PFA Player of the Year, the club went on to averaging only just over a goal per game against last season. They have signed defenders likeClyne while midfielders like James Milner and Firmino should provide the club with a lot of strength in depth especially considering the departure of a big name like Steven Gerrard in this position. Liverpool have yet another difficult match this weekend when they visit Manchester United at Old Trafford. The club can still hope to qualify for next season’s Champions League by winning the Europa League. Liverpool will be disappointed not to progress out of their group, but the most important thing is that they were back playing at the highest level this season – and it gives them something to build on,” said Suarez.
