SUAREZ WANTS TO STAY

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has said that he is not looking to leave the Premier league and the Liverpool in the summer. Luis Suarez was recently quoted as saying on a French TV that he would be interested in playing for French club PSG. The French club PSG were recently taken over by Qatari investors, who have since pumped a lot of money into the club. They have also been able to attract from Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti to manage the club. He has been able to guide PSG to the top of the French table. After the racism issues in England, it is thought that Luis Suarez will be willing to move to France in order to avoid the constant media criticism.

Luis Suarez was a major factor in helping Liverpool lift their first major trophy in six years when they won the Carling cup recently. Even though Liverpool suffered heavy defeats against Sunderland and Arsenal recently, they have returned to form with convincing performances recently. Luis Suarez put in a great performance in the 3-0 win for Liverpool in the Merseyside Derby recently. Following the match, the striker acknowledged that there has been interest from other clubs across Europe, but he is willing to stay with Liverpool for the foreseeable future.

“I have spoken with people at the club and they know that I want to stay and that I am enjoying myself and am very happy here. No one at the club has told me that they want to try to sell me or that I will be leaving. I’m going to carry on playing my football here at Liverpool,” he said. Luis Suarez return to form has coincided with the arrival of Steven Gerrard to the first-team action. Steven Gerrard scored a hat-trick against Everton.

IT’S BEHIND HIM

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has said that the problems Luis Suarez has suffered after his race row with Manchester United defender Patrice Evra is now completely behind the player. Luis Suarez was initially alleged to have made racist remarks against Patrice Evra in the match between the two clubs at Anfield earlier in the season. The Uruguay striker was later found guilty of the offence and was given a hefty ban of eight matches. Even though the ban applied was huge, Liverpool found a way to get around the problem due to the large number of FA Cup and league cup fixtures they have to play during this period.

Now, having completed his ban, Luis Suarez is now available for selection. The player is expected to be named in the squad for the match against Manchester United in the Premier league. This match will be taking place at Old Trafford, and hence that have been suggestions that Luis Suarez would be left out of the match in order to avoid any further complications in this situation. However, Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has said that the problem between Luis Suarez and Patrice Evra is completely behind the two players right now. Football will be the centre stage in the two teams meet at Old Trafford according to Kenny Dalglish.

“I’m sure people will want to talk about Luis Suarez but he accepted his ban, served his suspension and returned against Spurs on Monday. People are already speculating on the pre-match ceremony, but from Luis’s point of view we have spoken to him and I know he will shake the hand of Patrice Evra and the other Manchester United players before the game,” Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish said ahead of the match with Manchester United at Old Trafford. Liverpool face a fight to get into the top four this season.

MANCINI: APOLOGY WAS IMPORTANT

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has said that the apology issued by Luis Suarez is highly important in the context of his punishment.

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez was found guilty of racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra in a match between the two clubs earlier in the season. Even though Luis Suarez said on a number of occasions that he was not guilty, video evidences relating to the incident proved otherwise. He was subsequently charged by the English football association and was given a ban of eight matches. He was also given a one match ban for his obscene gesture to the Fulham fans in one of the club’s recent matches.

After the charge and the ban, however, Luis Suarez came out with an apology, although it was not aimed at the player he racially abused – Patrice Evra. Still, Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has said that the apology is very important for Liverpool’s season as a whole and for the future of Suarez in England. Luis Suarez has not been a stranger to controversy at all. Immediately after arriving in England, he was accused of cheating in the World Cup quarter-final match against Ghana. The racial abuse of Patrice Evra, though, has become a much bigger incident and Luis Suarez will now be missing a number of crucial matches for Liverpool.

“It is impossible that we are always perfect. Everything can happen because you don’t think. Sometimes a situation like this can happen on the pitch. It is important to apologise for what he did,” continued Mancini. Roberto Mancini had a long battle with the racist issues while playing in Italy for Sampdoria and Lazio. However, he dealt with the situation quite brilliantly, although he has been highly critical of Liverpool’s decision to use Luis Suarez T-shirts ahead of the match with Wigan.
