However, Brendan Rodgers has struck a massive blow in the hopes of the clubs looking to sign the Uruguay striker. Suarez finished the last season as the top scorer at the club with 17 goals to his name.
“It is thought Juventus were about to offer £16million or try to broker a cash plus player deal involving Eljero Elia or Milos Krasic. But Rodgers has spoken with Luis to gain his confidence and explain the new project and his role in the team. Luis is calm about everything,” said a Liverpool source to the British tabloid The Sun.
Suarez, like Steven Gerrard, also welcomed the appointment of Rodgers by saying that he expects Liverpool to challenge for the top positions next season. “I have to say Swansea were a pleasant surprise in the Premier League. They always tried to play football with short-pass combinations,” said Suarez.
