Newly appointed Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has said that he does not expect star striker Luis Suarez to be sold by the club in the summer. The Uruguay striker has been linked with a move away from Liverpool throughout the season after having suffered a number of issues both on and off the field.
However, the arrival of former Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers has instilled a new confidence at the club. Luis Suarez is widely regarded to be one of the best strikers in the Premier league at the moment. Hence, Brendan Rodgers does not see the need to sell the Uruguay striker, according to the Liverpool news website.
Only a few months ago, Luis Suarez openly admitted that he would be open to a move to a French club like PSG or even a Spanish club like Barcelona. Even though there are not concrete offers yet on the table, it is thought that it would be only a matter of time before they arrive. However, Brendan Rodgers has struck a massive blow in the hopes of the clubs looking to sign the Uruguay striker. Suarez finished the last season as the top scorer at the club with 17 goals to his name.
“It is thought Juventus were about to offer £16million or try to broker a cash plus player deal involving Eljero Elia or Milos Krasic. But Rodgers has spoken with Luis to gain his confidence and explain the new project and his role in the team. Luis is calm about everything,” said a Liverpool source to the British tabloid The Sun.
Suarez, like Steven Gerrard, also welcomed the appointment of Rodgers by saying that he expects Liverpool to challenge for the top positions next season. “I have to say Swansea were a pleasant surprise in the Premier League. They always tried to play football with short-pass combinations,” said Suarez.
Liverpool vice-captain Jamie Carragher has said that the star striker Luis Suarez is better than any other player in the Premier League. Therefore, it is vital for Liverpool to retain him next season. The Uruguay international has been linked with clubs like PSG this season. It is thought that the player has grown tired of life in the Premier League, which is one of the most physical in Europe. Hence, he is looking at the possibility of moving away from England in the summer. PSG have already said that they are willing to pay over the odds for the striker, as their manager Carlo Ancelotti is someone who rates him highly.
Suarez found the net in the FA semi-final match with Everton recently. The 2-1 win now means that Liverpool will have the chance to compete in the second cup final this season, which will help them forget the memories of a very poor season under Kenny, despite spending a lot of money in the summer. Liverpool vice-captain Jamie Carragher has said that Liverpool have all the ingredients of being successful next season. He sees Luis Suarez as a vital component of it. Hence, they should retain the Uruguay international at all costs.
“I thought he was brilliant. Our best player. I wouldn’t swap him for anyone in the league. He is a fantastic player and I’m delighted we’ve got him and hopefully he will take that forward into the cup final. It is vitally important (Liverpool keep Suarez). I see no reason why he would want to leave. He is playing well so hopefully he will sign a new contract, which he is expecting to do,” said Carragher about Luis Suarez. The defender also said that he plans to continue playing next season as well, despite turning 34 years of age recently.

The French club PSG have been one of the most vocal in their attempts to get the former Ajax man to Paris. Luis Suarez scored in the FA Cup semi-final victory over Everton, which has given Liverpool the chance to play in the FA Cup final against Chelsea. This will be the second final of the season for Liverpool in what has turned out to be an otherwise poor season under manager Kenny Dalglish.
Liverpool were expected to challenge for the Champions League positions this season, but they have been extremely disappointing, despite spending more than £ 100 million in the summer. Andy Carroll has been one of the major disappointments for Liverpool, while Luis Suarez has been one of the few success stories at Merseyside this season.

Andy Carroll scored the other goal for Liverpool, as they came back from being a goal down against Everton to win the semifinal match.
They will be facing Chelsea in the FA Cup final on May 5 after the London club overcame Tottenham in a highly exciting 5-1 win.
Liverpool striker Luis Suarez could leave the club in the summer if manager Kenny Dalglish is sacked by the American owners. Speculation has been increasing over the future of manager Kenny Dalglish, who has overseen the worst run of form for Liverpool for more than 50 years.
Liverpool are currently eighth in the Premier league table, far from the Champions League qualification aspirations that Liverpool had at the start of the season. Despite spending a lot of money, Liverpool had been struggling in the league, although they have won the Carling Cup. The future of Luis Suarez has come under a cloud of doubt in recent weeks after the striker admitted that he would be willing to play for PSG if an offer came from the French club.
PSG, AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus have all shown interest in the player. Kenny Dalglish was one of the major reasons for Luis Suarez to avoid the spotlight during the issues with Manchester United defender Patrice Evra. Despite being found guilty of racially abusing Patrice Evra, Kenny Dalglish backed Luis Suarez all along the way. It seems to have impressed the Uruguayan, who has backed the manager Kenny Dalglish to deliver the results for Liverpool. “Without Kenny as manager, there has to be a major question mark about Luis,” said an unnamed Liverpool source.
