John Aldridge says that the club should consider signing a proven goalscorer
Former Liverpool star John Aldridge says that the club should consider signing a proven goalscorer in order to act as a replacement for Luis Suarez.
The inability to score goals was a major factor in the club finishing outside the top four once again last season. Even though Brendan Rodgers had brought Mario Balotelli as the replacement for Luis Suarez, the Italian international disappointed immensely after scoring only one league goal throughout the campaign. The situation became more desperate due to the injury crisis faced by striker Daniel Sturridge. Liverpool have been one of the active clubs in the summer transfer window by bringing players like Nathaniel Clyne.
However, Aldridgehas recognised a need for a top striker as the priority number one for the Reds. After scoring almost 3 goals per game during the campaign in which Luis Suarez was named as the PFA Player of the Year, the club went on to averaging only just over a goal per game against last season.
