The manager of Liverpool, Brendan Rodgers, has made it clear that he is not going to accept any bid for Luis Suarez at this stage of the season.
There have been some reports that Real Madrid is looking to bid for Suarez after almost securing the services of Gareth Bale. But, Rodgers’ statements suggest that the Reds are not in a mood to let the 26 years old striker go.
Suarez was on the radar of Real Madrid a couple of months back as well and the Uruguayan international was also interested in making a move to Spain, but, then, Madrid turned to Gareth Bale and Suarez seemed to be staying at Liverpool.
But, now that Madrid has almost finalized that Gareth Bale deal, they have turned their focus back to Suarez.
When asked about Real Madrid’s interest in Suarez, Rodgers said, “If we had been approached a couple of months ago, we would have thought about it, but, now, it’s too late. The season is going to start in a few days and we can’t do that at this point of time.”
“A lot of things happen in the last week of the transfer window. We are going to tackle that in a professional way. We are looking to bring in a couple of more players, but, selling somebody like Luis at this stage is not possible.”
Rodgers also made it clear that Liverpool was interested in the Brazilian winger Willian Borges da Silva, but, they couldn’t succeed in finalising that deal due to some reasons.
Rodgers said, “Willian was on our radar and we tried hard to bring him here, but, we weren’t successful.”
According to the reports, it’s Chelsea which is now planning to bid for Willian who is currently a player of Anzhi Makhachkala.

New Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti failed to dismiss suggestions that his club are looking to sign both Gareth Bale and Luis Suarez before the end of the transfer window. Real only recently managed to bring in Ancelotti after months of negotiations with French club PSG. After failing to win the league and the Champions League last season, the club are looking to aim for glory in both fronts by signing high-quality attacking players. Both Gareth Bale and Luis Suarez have had extraordinary seasons with Tottenham and Liverpool respectively.
They will cost in excess of £ 100 million combined, but that has not prevented Real Madrid from continually being linked with a move for their services. Even though Tottenham have categorically stated that Bale is not for sale at any price, the same has not been the case with Suarez. The Uruguay star is thought to be extremely frustrated with life in England. Even though he does not have anything against Liverpool, he could demand a transfer in order to move away from England.
Ancelotti has failed to comment on the transfer speculation by saying that it is extremely early days that he is working with the squad. He will know more about the squad in the coming days. The Spanish giants have already made a couple of signings in various areas of the pitch.
“We’ve not spoken of signings because today is the first day I am here. I cannot give any information on the players who might come in or those who will leave. The squad is very good. In the next few days we will talk with the club about what we need,” said Ancelotti in his first press conference as the Real Madrid manager. Suarez scored 30 goals for Liverpool in all competitions before being banned by the English FA for biting Chelsea defender Ivanovic.
