Suarez’s comment was not meant to be racist, if you ask people who have spent time in Uruguay or Colombia or where not else, Negratio (or however exactly its spelled) is not a hateful or spiteful term. Some cultural understanding would go a long way, from both ends, as Suarez was probably not completely aware of the offense that would be taken from the term, but also from the officials who saw his case and gave him a very harsh punishment for it.

I can think of countless other ways, seeing as I use them on the pitch every single week. You can try that little bit harder in the game, vent your anger by playing better football and winning the game. You can go in harder for tackles, fairly but harder. Or you could just use regular insults if that floats your boat. And who’s saying that competition always results in anger? Why get angry in the first place?

venting your anger in the context of football, I’m not talking about a wider scope. On the pitch you’re confined to only a limited way to vent your anger and you’re not allowed off the pitch. What other ways are there other than screaming in frustration or lashing out?

“Merely a way of venting your anger”. Am sorry but that’s not a good enough excuse. There’s a million different ways to vent your anger, and abusing someone for being of different colour to you isn’t acceptable. A suicide bomber is angry at Western society, but that doesn’t make it ok to blow some people up!

Anton Ferdinand is not Black hes Half-Caste, The White nutt sacks and vaginas of Europe are 50% responsible for the Creation Production and Existance of these Mixed-Race people in this world, But despite this they will still call him a nigger even thoe hes half-white, Any White person that calls a Half-Caste person black may aswell look down at there own White nutt sack or White vagina and call it black too, Because thats the main Root source of these Mixed-Race babies coming into the world.

I think the key difference in that example is that the cases were different individuals- Terry and Anton were both English, one was white, the other black and so is much more controversial, the other is harder to distinguish with language barries and the two involved are Uruguian and Senegalese and it is being claimed that there is no racist remark as it is merely a different word. Terry however clearly said something offensive in the English language, just was it racist or not?

I’d say when there is repeated cases of individuals being racially abusive. If someone does it once then fine, maybe it’s just a Fruidian slip, but if the offender repeats the action, then it should be flagged up. Or also if the racist remark is so foul mouthed and disgusting that it cannot be purely a spur-of-the-moment comment or if it is too damaging, that is when I say we should draw the line.

And in responce to Suarez, I think it has less media coverage purely because John Terry has had controvesy swirling around him since Wayne Bridge and he is/was England Captain and a highly prolific figure in the world of Football, particulary English football so that is to be expected.

I personally think that what Sepp Blafter said is entirely legitimate, as you often get a lot of heated arguments in the game when people’s blood is up. Sure, it may get taken a step beyond that and at theat time the ref should step in, or FIFA or whatever sports board it is, but people say stupid things during matches, I know I certainly have and I don’t regard myself as a racist, it is merely you venting your anger. So whilst it may be that you are shouting something abusive, it is not meant-
