NO BIDS ACCEPTED
The manager of Liverpool, Brendan Rodgers, has made it clear that he is not going to accept any bid for Luis Suarez at this stage of the season.
There have been some reports that Real Madrid is looking to bid for Suarez after almost securing the services of Gareth Bale. But, Rodgers’ statements suggest that the Reds are not in a mood to let the 26 years old striker go.
Suarez was on the radar of Real Madrid a couple of months back as well and the Uruguayan international was also interested in making a move to Spain, but, then, Madrid turned to Gareth Bale and Suarez seemed to be staying at Liverpool.
But, now that Madrid has almost finalized that Gareth Bale deal, they have turned their focus back to Suarez.
When asked about Real Madrid’s interest in Suarez, Rodgers said, “If we had been approached a couple of months ago, we would have thought about it, but, now, it’s too late. The season is going to start in a few days and we can’t do that at this point of time.”
“A lot of things happen in the last week of the transfer window. We are going to tackle that in a professional way. We are looking to bring in a couple of more players, but, selling somebody like Luis at this stage is not possible.”
Rodgers also made it clear that Liverpool was interested in the Brazilian winger Willian Borges da Silva, but, they couldn’t succeed in finalising that deal due to some reasons.
Rodgers said, “Willian was on our radar and we tried hard to bring him here, but, we weren’t successful.”
According to the reports, it’s Chelsea which is now planning to bid for Willian who is currently a player of Anzhi Makhachkala.
